C validating cancel button

I found a related question here: j Query Validation plugin: disable validation for specified submit buttons. This sample code demonstrates the problem I'm seeing. In this sample, when I type an invalid email address in the text input, and then click the cancel button before clicking anything else, the validator displays a message next to the text input and the cancel action never occurs. If I then click cancel again, the page reloads as expected.Simply put, never trust the data in an incoming request, and always validate on the server. When validation fails the normal flow of execution continues.I'm using the jquery validate plugin for form validation.I'm seeing something weird with the cancel functionality. The associated control is set by right clicking on the validator and selecting Properties from the context menu. The rest of the validation controls provided by ASP.In the Properties dialog box find the Control To Validate property and select First Name Text Box from the drop down list. We can set other properties, such as the Error Message property, and the final ASPX source code should look like the following. NET work in a similar fashion to what we've seen above. If the client's web browser is of executing client side Java Script, the first validation pass occurs on the client.

Notice in the following screen capture, we can see the Required Field Validator error message display on the form. The user does not wait on a server round trip to discover errors.

Not executing server side validation leaves your application code vulnerable to malicious users.

Malicious users might circumvent client side validations in an effort to break-in or damage your servers.

I have a form with one email field, a submit button, and a cancel button.

When I type an incomplete address in the email field, and then, without clicking anywhere else on the page, click cancel, the validator checks the email field, displays the invalid message next to the field, and kills the cancel action. I added the "cancel" css class to my cancel button, but it had NO effect.
